SAP architecture
BTP, clean core extensibility, and a second opinion before a landscape gets expensive to unwind.
What it covers
- BTP and side-by-side extensions
- CAP and RAP
- Clean core extensibility
- Integration
- A second opinion on an architecture decision
Typical questions
- Does this belong in the core, or beside it?
- Which extension point survives the next upgrade?
- Where does the integration actually break when the event is late or the API changes?
How I approach it
The work starts with the return. A capability has to earn its place. AI stays in a bounded layer: it can propose, and people plus deterministic logic commit anything that posts, pays, or changes master data. The ERP keeps the work it already does well.
Example projects
Process payment advices automatically with SAP Document AI
Design and implementation of a global SAP Document AI pipeline for processing payment advices, integrated into S/4HANA Public Cloud with a full clean-core approach. Built as a side-by-side extension on BTP, so the digital core stays free of custom code.
Analyze and control prices and conditions, beside the ERP
Design and build of a data pipeline with a medallion architecture that transfers all sales and purchasing data from SAP ECC into PostgreSQL, in order to analyze pricing and conditions across the company. Fully clean core, with no custom code in the SAP system.
Build of a companion pricing application that reads the current pricing and enables mass changes, and automated market-indicator-driven changes to prices and conditions, back into SAP.
Event-driven process control as a BTP extension to S/4HANA
Planning and development of an event-driven system for process control and document archiving as a side-by-side extension to S/4HANA on BTP. Development of the related Fiori Elements apps for user interaction.
S/4HANA greenfield in supply chain finance
Preliminary study on the choice of public cloud, private cloud, or on-premise. Responsibility for the greenfield migration. Consulting and customizing, and development in FI (for example dynamic payment-method optimization, and search algorithms for payment clearing in bank statements).
Setup of SAP Embedded Analytics based on ABAP CDS and analytical queries, plus SOAP and OData services, SAC implementation, and BTP support.
Condition and pricing determination as a clean-core extension
Planning and development of a clean-core side-by-side extension on BTP to optimize and automate condition and pricing determination in SD and MM.
